Welcome to the family, Baby Jax!

At 5:13 am this morning, Jax Xavier Parker was born into our world and loving arms.  He weighed in at 7 lbs and 1.9 ounces, and 21 inches long.  He has already met Grandma and Grandpa Xavier, and is eagerly awaiting a visit from his big brother and sister.

Kathryn was a champ, and is recovering very well.  She's already feeding the little guy with no problems at all.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes--we can't wait to introduce our newest family member to you all.

Show me some love!  :-)
Good First Week

Jax had a relatively easy first week, as he slept through most of it. He has is days and nights a tad mixed up, but otherwise has been very easy to manage. Grandma and Grandpa Xavier spent the entire first week with us and were a huge help. Ava loves to hug the little guy, but we're still waiting to see if she'll try to whack him over the head with her Elmo doll or something. Jimmy has already started to teach Jax the life-critical "skillz" of playing Xbox, while Kathryn and I are just trying to catch up on sleep. I'm back to work on tomorrow, so it should prove interesting to see how everyone gets along this next week. Cross your fingers for us J

Relaxing at Home

Jax is adjusting very well to his new surroundings, although he insisted on being held almost the entire night.  Just one of many sleepless nights to come, I’m sure.

At Last…Jax Heads for Home!

After 2 ½ days of being wheeled around in a plastic hospital basinet, Jax finally gets his honorable discharge from Kettering Hospital. We were very relieved that he passed his final Billy… Blue… Baxter… something rather test that indicated his jaundice (sp?) was at a low enough level for us to take him home. The nurses were sad to see him go—he broke a few hearts for sure, but still left them all smiling. And so the adventure begins…

Sitting Through a Tornado Warning

Just when we were about to be discharged, a tornado warning hits the hospital. According to their emergency procedures all moms and babies have to be wheeled into a "safe" hallway. There are about 20 babies and moms hanging out in this hallway, and none of them look pleased. They also don't appear to be amused by my blogging about it either. J Jax is handling it much better, but of course, he's a guy… :-}

Family Visit
Baby Jax got to meet his brother and sister today--a precious moment for all.

Ava tried to clobber him already, but then followed up with a couple of hugs.  Jimmy showed his natural baby-handling talent once again while sporting a proud smile.
